I love being able to gift handmade crocheted items, particularly to babies! Their cute little items ranging from baby booties to hats can be something that their parents treasure forever, and of course they make great photo shoot items for newborns! We recently met a new baby boy, and I wanted to crochet him a little hat with yarn that I already had on hand. I found this adorable free pattern on Ravelry HERE for “Little Lindy’s Aviator Hat”!
I love how it’s a different spin on the traditional earflap hat that I’ve made countless times, and the front flap is so adorable! I used leftover yarn from my Granite Cape (Lion Brand Yarn’s Heartland in “Katmai”) and do you recognize the fuzzy yarn? It’s Bernat Pipsqueak yarn, leftover from Lambert, my Chinese New Year Lamb! I followed the pattern exactly as stated, and just used fuzzy yarn for the border. The pattern includes sizing for Baby, Toddler, and Child. It works up very quickly, and of course, using up yarn already in your stash is always a plus since it requires very little yarn! If you’re in need of a quick baby gift or looking for a different hat pattern, check this one out! I know I’ll be revisiting this pattern a lot more!
