I absolutely love tea and desserts, so one of my most favourite outings is going for afternoon tea. I always feel so proper and lady-like…if only I had the fancy hats with fascinators and puffy dress to wear to these outings 😉
Each person had a unique teacup and plate. They’re so delicate and pretty!
I opted for the establishment’s signature tea, which was an earl grey tea with jasmine notes.
Out came the cucumber and egg salad finger sandwiches. Whenever I get cucumber sandwiches, I am always reminded of one of my favourite plays, Oscar Wilde’s “The Importance of Being Earnest” (they were to be specially prepared for Lady Bracknell). I still get a good laugh whenever I read that play 🙂
I always eagerly wait in anticipation for the tower of desserts to come out! Everything looks so appetizing, from the assorted cookies, dainties and fresh fruit. Keep in mind that there were four of us to share these treats together…
And my absolute favourite part of Afternoon Tea: the scones served with raspberry butter and Devonshire cream! I tried to savour the scone by tearing it slowly into bits and slathering each piece with the special butter and cream.
T’was a great afternoon filled with soothing tea, delicious snacks, and great company! Can’t wait for my next Afternoon Tea outing 🙂
