Four years ago I wrote my very first blog post when I started “All About Ami”! I am so thankful that I was able to keep blogging consistently and share my projects with you all as I wondered if I would one day run out of ideas. I had always wanted to start a blog, and I hoped that sharing about my experiences with amigurumi and crochet would provide great content since I was so passionate about it and others might find it interesting as well. I still remember trying to figure out a blog name and what platform to use, and I shared the name of “All About Ami” with Ryan as we were walking out of a grocery store in January 2011. It was a play on “All About Me” using the short form of “amigurumi”- little did I know that people would mistakenly assume my name was “Ami” later on haha…
434 posts, 13 947 Facebook fans, 1 526 Twitter followers, 9140 Instagram followers and 27 123 Tumblr followers later, here we are! This blog has blossomed beyond my expectations and sometimes it still feels surreal when I think about the people I’ve connected with and how people read my blog posts and follow my patterns from all over the world! This past year’s highlights include rebranding and redesigning my blog, my California blog meet-up, cosplaying at the Anime Expo, all the fall and winter projects I designed with the accompanying fun outdoor photoshoots, and being asked to participate in the #scarfie campaign by Lion Brand Yarn. The most popular projects from this past year seem to be my “Chinese New Year Pony” that I designed, the “Elephant” that I translated with its unique construction, and the “Triple Luxe Cowl” that many of you have made!
Personally, we welcomed our second daughter Brielle in December! When we first started “All About Ami” four years ago, we were newlyweds who had just moved into a new house! The blog has matured as we have matured, and I can’t believe that we are parents to two little girls now! Thank you for playing a part and sharing in our lives- we are truly grateful for your support and love for our family! Some of you have shared your stories with me of how crochet has deeply impacted your life and how my blog helped spark an interest. I’m so very touched that I can play an impact in your lives in this way as well!
